About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Sugar and Spice

Another fortnight's challenge is under way at Use Your Craft Stash. We are now on S and T! My "S" card is a Stepper card, using Crafter's Companion Sugar and Spice CD, a Scent bottle topper, and Sent with love sentiment.

I used the template for a centre stepper card from a previous blog post of mine (click here to see it). The only difference is that I reduced the measurement from the sides (show on the previous post as 4cm) to 3cm, in order to accommodate the card companion from the CD.

The base is made using an A4 sheet of Centura Pearl, and I printed two papers from the CD to match those on the topper. I also used a sheet of matt mirror card - I think this was from the Sara Signature Flutterby collection.

I used a Spellbinder die to cut the circular topper, and a scalloped circle die to create a mat.

We look forward to seeing your creations!

Happy crafting.

A Nordic Napkin Card!

We are into the second week of our M and N challenge. My "N" card is a Napkin fold card made using Crafter's Companion Nordic Christmas CD - with a tiny little Noel in there too!

I have made a napkin fold card before (see here) and have followed the same instructions.  You need to start with a square piece of card - this is 11x11 (cut from a piece of 12x12). I scored at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4". After a quarter turn, this was repeated. The centre of each side (5 1/2") needs to be marked so you can score between these four points to create the diagonals. The diagonals on the corner squares also need scoring. You then fold the diagonals one way and the vertical/horizontals the other way.

The four large triangles are made by cutting a 5" square of paper into four, along the diagonals. The smaller ones are from a 4 3/4" square similarly cut into 8 pieces. Except I made mistake and used a 4" square! Not a major issue - you just have more of the base card showing.

The topper companion (printed at A5 size) and two of the papers (the brown one has Noel on it), are directly from the CD. The grey wood effect paper was made by cutting, pasting and cropping one of the quick cards from the CD. I also used some of the matching circular embellishments.

The belly band was made using the little topper from the companion sheet, and a strip of card 3 3/8" wide, with more of the papers.

Don't forget to come an share your stash busting makes!
Happy crafting.

Moonbeam Meadow

A new two week challenge has started at Use Your Craft Stash. We're up to M and N - so this week I have my "M" card. No step by step, as this is a really simple mat and layer card.

I used the Moonbeam Meadow CD - an old one from Crafter's Companion, and found this gorgeous topper with two Mice sat on a Mushroom. The patterned papers are also printed from the CD. I added some Mint green glitter card (CC Luxury card pack - but don't know which one) to go with the pink, and some dark green Matt Mirror card (also CC Luxury card pack). The  roses are from my stash - cheapy ones (£1 for 12 or so), and a few flat backed pearls.

We look forward to seeing your makes.

Happy crafting!!

Butterfly Easel Card

Afternoon! Not long now until the launch of these fantastic new Create a Card dies at 6pm.
This one is an easel card using the Flutterby dies. I used Centura Pearl Hint of Gold, with the September 2016 website download of the month printed on the back. The sentiment is also from that download.

I embossed some of the card with Embossalicious Sugar and Spice A4 Delicate Floral folder.

Don't forget to tune in at 6pm today.

Internal Box Card

Morning. Back today with another make using the new Create a Card dies. This one is the Flutterby die set - which of course has gorgeous butterflies with it.
So, this one is made from Centura Pearl Snow White Hint of Silver, on the back of which I printed a couple of the green Fabric Papers from Crafter's Inspiration 13.
I added a few flowers using Die'sire Essentials Flowers for All Occasions 3, and the leaves from the Sara Signature English Country Garden Lazy Daisy die set. The sentiment is Classiques Only Words.
Watch out for the shows on Hochanda coming soon.

I want to ride my bicycle!!

Morning! Thought I would share another Diamond Press card. This one is using the "Bike" mini stamp and die set.

It's quite a simple card, using papers from the May 2016 download from the website. I stamped the bike in Versafine Smoky Gray - onto white paper, the green paper from the download, and also onto Shrink Plastic.

I layered it up to create the effect of the bike being on the grass amongst the trees, and created an embellishment from the shrink plastic.

Enjoy your day!!

Big Box Card

Morning!! I have another Catitudes project today! This one is a large pop up box card - made from an A3 sheet of double sided Centura Pearl Fresh White card.

The papers are from the 8x8 paper pack, with the images, sentiment and embellishments from both of the CDs. I embossed some matching card with the Ornate Fans folder, and die cut the Cat Silhouette, the Boutique sign and the fans from the Oriental Additions.

A bit of Catittudes!

I loved working on the launch of the Catitudes range. It has such fun images and gorgeous colours! And even better, all the elements available in digital format for playing around with!

And that's what I did with this little boxed set of cards.

Each card is roughly 4x4, and was created entirely digitally (I use Publisher) then printed directly onto Sheena White Stamping card!!

I just loved playing around with the images and background papers, layering and moving around!! I absolutely love physical papercrafting - but I do rather enjoy doing this kind of thing now and again!
