About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

It's that day!!

Good morning, and Merry Christmas to you. Today I have the final share of my Christmas makes. This is the card I made for my lovely husband.

I went for a very monochrome theme, with dark grey pearl from my stash combined with Centura Pearl Fresh White, silver satin card and a very old 12x12 Craft Creation backing paper.

The dies are also very old: Sara Signature Traditional Christmas Decorative Bauble and Merry Christmas sentiment; Sara Signature Winter Wonderland Dendritic Crystals. I used small strips of the dark grey for the hanging part of the bauble, some light grey/silver ribbon and a few flat backed pearls.

However you are spending your day, may it be filled with peace and love.

Hunkydory - Christmas Cuddles

Something a bit cuter today. These two cards use the Hunkydory 2019 Festive Friends - Christmas Cuddles set.

Both of these cards are 8x8 and use the A4 card from the set. The lettering is Crafter's Companion Diamond Press Block Alpha.

Hunkydory - Deerest Winter Wishes

Three cards today that use the Hunkydory 2019 Wonderful Wintertime - Deerest Winter Wishes. Such a cute little fawn on these images.

The first is on a 6x6 card blank, with some silver mirror card and toning blue card.

The second is on a 5x5 scalloped card blank.

And the last is on a 7x7 card blank.

Hunkydory - Festive Rose

A couple of cards from Hunkydory's Festive Floral Festive Rose collection - the Season's Greetings sheet. I think this came in a Christmas Goody Box, as I don't have any more of the collection.

The first one is 6x6 using the printed card stock. I love that it is totally matt.

The second one is a 7x7 card using the printed card as a mat.

Hunkydory - A Sparkling Season

It's Christmas Eve!! And that means, you'll be glad to hear, that I am nearly done with sharing my Christmas cards. This is a 2020 Hunkydory set - from the Christmas Sparkle Collection. The topper set is called A Sparkling Season.  Don't remember ordering this - so possibly was in one of those lucky dip boxes.

That said, I love the colours - the dark purples and teals. They don't come across so well on the pics but they are so lovely.

Both cards use the A4 printed cardstock cut down to 6x6, along with the circular toppers. I do like to split the layers on these.

Hunkydory - A Letter To Santa

A different collection from the Hunkydory 2019 Blockbuster today. These two cards are from the Winter Warmers collection, and use the "A Letter To Santa" Topper set.

For me, the A4 card didn't really lend itself to the card size that I wanted, so the first one is on a 5x5 scalloped card blank.

And the second is on a 7x7 card blank. Each uses some gold mirror card, with some red and grey paper from an old Lildl Crelando paper pad.

Circle Easel Cards

I shared some Christmas Pudding cards a few days ago where I used some old circle easel cards.

Here are three more cards that I used them to create. All of the background papers are from the 2019 Hunkydory Blockbuster magazine, teamed up with card from my stash, and Centura Pearl Snow White Hint of Silver. For all of them, the sentiment is Creative Expressions Festive Collection Deco Sentiments.

This first one uses some 12x12 blue card - possibly Bazzil, and Crafter's Companion Create-a-card Cut In Dies - Sparkling Bauble. These dies are really old - they launched in July 2016, and I remember creating samples for TV using them.

This one has some 6x6 Core'dinations Card, with the Ornate Snowflake Create-a-card Cut In dies.

And the final one uses some Crafter's Companion Linen card with the Shine Bright Create-a-card die set.

Hunkydory - Little Book of Christmas Cuddles

Today, I have a couple of 8x8 cards that have been made with images from the Hunkydory Little Book of Christmas Cuddles. I don't know when this came out, but I think I got it in a Christmas Goody Bag towards the end of 2021.

Because I wanted to use these images on 8x8 cards, I needed something else to add on. So, I ended up using some REALLY old dies.

For the first card, I used Crafter's Companion Softly Falling 6x6 Create a Card, and Crafter's Companion Snowflake dies. The background paper was in my Christmas box, and I really don't know where I got that from.

For the second card, I used Crafter's Companion Christmas Eve 6x6 Create a Card with a Poinsettia die that came from an old Crafter's Companion Inspiration Magazine. The card was left over from Winter Warmers - Warmest Wishes Topper set.

Hunkydory - Festive Wishes

Today's two cards are made from one of the 2019 Hunkdory Member's Free Gifts. It was called A Beary Merry Christmas, and these toppers are from the Festive Wishes topper sheet, along with the matching cardstock.

I cut the printed card down to 6" in height, and then scored it in half. Unfortunately, the image ended up on the back of the card - something I find happens quite often, and it is one of the things I don't like about Hunkydory printed card.

Still, the fronts of both are still lovely, and make gorgeous cards. And I have to say that I absolutely love the colour scheme of this set.

Christmas Pudding Easel Cards

Whilst most of my cards this year are using up Hunkydory topper stash, I did batch make a couple of other designs. When I was looking through what I had, I found a load of pre-cut circle easel topper cards (think they are Hunkydory). I also found these Christmas Pudding die cuts. Now, they have got to have been in my stash for a good 12 years!! Still, I have used them now - and I actually think they look really good.

For all of them, I used a selection of circle dies for the topper and also for the stopper. These include Spellbinders Scalloped Circles, Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge Circles, Crafter's Companion Essentials Scalloped Circles and Julie Hickey Designs Dinky Circles.

All have gold mirror card as the back mount. And each uses cardstock from my old stash, most is Kanban, but I think the foiled holly one many have been Hunkydory.

The little holly embellishment and the sentiment are Creative Expressions Festive Collection Deco Sentiments.

Hunkydory - Christmas Sparkle

Continuing with the theme of using up what I have, I decided to make most of the rest of my cards by using up what is left of my Hunkydory stash.

I have bought many a Hunkydory Blockbuster in my time, as I love how quickly the cards come together with the matching cardstock. But I had so much stuff, that I haven't purchased one since 2019, and I have been using this and remnants from others.

I am starting with the 2019 Christmas In Style - Christmas Sparkle. Have to admit that the photos have not come out brilliantly, but they are such beautiful colours - particularly with the foiling.

The first card uses the matching card for the base and was cut to make a 6x6.

For the other two cards, I have cut up the cardstock to mat and layer onto white base cards - one DL, and the other 6x6.

Hobby House - Daisy Mae Design Toppers

I am sharing all my Christmas makes over the next couple of weeks, and my intent this year  is to only use things from my stash - however old they may be. And some are very old. I am very lucky to have an extensive stash - a lot from past Design Team and Demonstrator work - but, like everyone else, I am feeling the pinch and quite frankly have no need for anything new this year - or probably several years!!

These cards are using Hobby House Daisy Mae Design Toppers.

The one below uses a topper from the Festive Fun sheet, with Crafter's Companion 6x6 Softly Falling Create-a-card. I also used Jeanine's Art Winter Charm Snowflake Nesting dies and Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge die. The sentiment is Creative Expressions Festive Collection Deco Sentiments, and the alphabet is a very old 1" Crafter's Companion set. The plain satin boards are from Crafter's Companion Luxury Cardstock packs. The patterned paper is from Hunkydory's 2019 Blockbuster magazine.

The second one uses a topper from the Winter Wishes sheet, with Crafter's Companion Timeless Wreath 5x5 Create-a-card. I used Spellbinders scalloped and plain circle dies (probably some of the oldest dies I have in my stash), with Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge dies. The sentiment and alphabet are the same as above. The glitter and satin board are again from Crafter's Companion Luxury Card Packs, while the patterned card is from a huge Kanban pack that must be from the days of Dawn Bibby on QVC.

I have lots more to share over the coming days.

Jeanine's Art - Winter Charme Collection

Today's share includes three projects using elements from Jeanine's Art Winter Charme Collection. This time I chose to make a couple of different styles of boxes, and a white-on-white card.

So, the first project is a white-on-white diorama card using the Snowflake Nesting dies, and the Landscape die set. I love white-on-white!!

The second is a flip top box using the Snowflake Nesting die set.

The third is another box using the Landscape die set.

Creative Expressions - Paper Panda Winter Stag

Time for a bit of Christmas for the next few blogs, starting with another Paper Panda die from Creative Expressions today. It's an older one - but I absolutely love it. It's called Winter Stag, and I used it to create two very different projects.

The first is one that would make a really simple Christmas present. You don't even need to do the inky background, as you can replace that with patterned paper. The box frame is 16.5cm square. The background is a combination of Distress Oxide Sprays in Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Prize Ribbon; Pixie Burts - Making Waves; and Pixie Sparkles in Blue Wish and Beyond Blue.  A textured white card is also worth using to add interest.

The second project is a window hanger. I used acetate and Shell Pink Alcohol Ink, Villainous Pearl Alcohol Ink and Snow Cap Alcohol Ink Mixative.

Creative Expressions - Paper Panda Ornate Christmas

More Christmas and more Paper Panda. This time, it's two cards with the same Ornate Christmas die - just different card styles.

The first is a rocker card, using cream card and gold glitter card.

The second is using it to create a more interesting "edge" on the front of the card.

Both the glitter card and the mirror/satin card are from Crafter's Companion Luxury Card Packs. I really love these packs as they give you different finishes that can be used together or separately.

The last of the Christmas Cards

These are the final two cards to share from my Christmas makes. They were batch made for my groups of friends, using my lovely new Tim Holtz Stamping Platform.

The first is a Crafter's Companion stamp called Floral Festivities. I stamped it with Crafter's Companion Harmony Waterproof Ink in Pebble, and used the Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Sparkle pen to "colour" it in. The base card is Centura Pearl Hint of Silver, and I used some gunmetal grey pearl card from my stash.

I also embossed some plain white card with a very old A4 Crafter's Companion Snowflake folder, to create a layer with texture.

The other card uses the same materials, but the stamp is Papermania - Stockings.

I hope that all of you have a peaceful day, however you are spending it.
Happy Christmas,
Cxxx

More Christmas Cards

While I love my Hunkydory, here are some of the other Christmas cards from this year's makes.

Firstly, this little bunch were using toppers from Hobby House.

And this lot were with an old Create and Craft set.

And all of these were with various Crafter's Companion goodies - some of which I have posted earlier in the year.

Happy crafting - and Happy Christmas.
