Yay!! And it's not even the evening!! I've had a great day today. Ran the equivalent of a quarter marathon this morning - the furthest I have ever run! That was followed by a spot of crafting. And then I went out in the sunshine to sort out my paddleboard ready for the start of the season!! So looking forward to getting back out on the water!!
Anyway, I have finally finished the canvas. All the details of the steps are in Days 50, 64, 72 and 73.
I have to say that when I started playing with the faux leather technique, I really didn't expect to end up making this!! And I'm rather pleased with it!!

My place to share my makes, thoughts and general musings!! Mostly on crafting things - but occasionally on others!!
About Me
- Papercraft By Carole
- I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Day 73 - A Few Embellishments!
Evening. Having made the flowers for my canvas, I felt I needed a few other embellishments and a sentiment or two.
I bought these heart and butterfly wooden embellishments ages ago in The Range. They've been sat in a little tub just waiting for the right project. And I think they'll work just right on the canvas.
I painted them with Pebeo Pearl Silk paint, and stamped with Walnut Stain Ink using Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy Best Friend Swirls, and Splats and Stains and Journal Jottings from Crafter's Companion Textures collection.
My original idea for the canvas was to use word stamps - and I decided on three from Crafter's Companion's Destinations Life is a Journey stamp set - PAUSE, RELAX, UNWIND!
I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink, and didn't put the stamps on any blocks. The were inked up on my craft mat, and the card pressed down on top - this gave the border effect around the edge of the words.
So now it's all ready to assemble together.

Day 72 - Flowers
Evening!! Not been feeling on top form today, so good job I have the other photo(s) from yesterday to share with you! I have been working on the canvas again - the one I started thinking about on Day 50 after playing around with Sheena's faux leather technique.
I was left with some pieces of the various faux leathers, and added to it by covering Sheena White Stamping card with the Pebeo paint I used on the canvas on Day 64 - Pearl Silk, Sun Pearl, Copper Pearl and Chocolate Pearl.
I then die cut leaves and flowers using A Rosy Outlook from Sheena's A Country Cottage Perfect Partners.
The matching stamp was used with VersaFine Vintage Sepia and Toffee.
I then used my own version of making the flowers - using one full, one four petal, and 2 two petals.
I then assembled the flowers with Collall 3D Glue Gel. The centres are Craftwork Cards Fondant Card candi - inked with Versafine. I'm rather pleased with these - all ready for adding to the canvas.
One more step tomorrow before I can assemble the finished canvas.

Day 71 - "Messy" Crafting
Evening!! My intention had been to share a picture of what I was working on today - some messy crafting for my ongoing canvas. But I have decided to do that tomorrow. And that's because as I went back to my craft area after starting to cook dinner this afternoon, the mess gave a whole new meaning to Messy Crafting! Quite funny, as I'd been watching Sheena on Hochanda with her "Messy Crafting" CDs!!
I have to admit that when I am messy crafting, I end up with piles of stuff out as I suddenly think "Oh, I could use that!" Hence the paint, inks, stamps, dies etc scattered around!! It's all packed back away now!
Tomorrow I'll share what you can just about see on the table.

Day 70 - Preparation!
I am trying to get ahead on family and friends things as, once I hit May, there are loads and loads. So, I have just about had time today to prepare a few bits for a card I will be making.
You may spy the Die'sire Square Accordion card overlay, a bit of Downton Abbey patterened card, along with the green card from a very old DCWV Luxury Cardstock stack. And of course red card from Papermill for the base!!

Day 69 - Experimentation!
So, after yesterday's quick play with my new Memento and VersaFine ink pads and Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens, I had another play with some other relatively new items.
I love my Distress Inks and the most recent addition to the collection has been Picket Fence. I used Sheena's "All a Flutter" stamp again - and stamped it twice onto Crafter's Companion Matt Black Card.
For the one on the left, I used Pebeo Dyna paints just to roughly colour in - Iridescent Red Blue, Iridescent Silver, and Iridescent Orange Yellow.
I then used Distress Glaze on the one on the right. My understanding of this is that it is designed to make Distress Ink waterproof so you can use other water techniques over it and the ink won't run. It's a little pot with a solid cream like substance that you apply over your stamped image with your finger. You then buff off the excess.
As you can see from the image, it really dulled down the Picket Fence ink. And when I watered down the Pebeo paint it did sit on top of the image - so it does waterproof it. The Pebeo paint did go on when I used it much more thickly.
I have to say that I prefer the one on the left - and am going to have to do some research on the Internet to see some techniques with the Distress Glaze.

Day 68 - A little playing!!
Have had a little play today - with a couple of my new ink pads, and with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. I stamped Sheena's "All A Flutter" stamp onto Sheena White Stamping Card - one with Memento Sky Blue, the other with Versafine Habanero.
I then coloured them in with my Sparkle Pens. The Memento Sky Blue was coloured with Soft Jade, Cosmos and Moonstone from the Spring/Summer collection. The pens did change the ink colour - but I quite liked that as it gave some purple tones, and darkened the blue!
The VersaFine Habanero was coloured with Aquamarine, Harvest Moon and Smoked Quartz from the Autumn Winter Collection.
Neither are particularly neat - but I just wanted to have a play - so not too bothered!
