About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Floating in space

Morning - this is the card I made for my great-nephew's recent birthday. The image is from Hunkydory's The Little Book of All Ages, teamed up with some gorgeous blue mirror card. The dotty card is from my stash, and I have die cut some of the blue mirror with Crafter's Companion Inverted Stitched Zig-Zag Rectangle.

The number is Trimcraft's Number dies, and the letters are Crafter's Companion Alphabet dies.

Thanks for popping by.

Happy crafting,

The Final Furlong

A few quick blogs over the next few days, catching up on sharing some personal family and friend cards - so no step-by-steps or videos.

The first is this one for my brother-in-law.

This uses Hunkydory's Sports Designer Decoupage - The Final Furlong. Love the colours of this topper/card set, and just added to it with a bit of gold mirror card embossed with Crafter's Companion
Textures - 8x8 Distress folder, and some Core'dinations card. Letters are cut with my Diamond Press Block Alpha.

Thanks for popping by.

Happy crafting!!

A Lovely Day

Today's card was for my lovely sister-in-law's birthday.  I used Hunkydory Peony Dreams - A Lovely Day for both the topper and patterned card. To that, I added some pink Core'dinations card and silver mirror card, cut with Crafter's Companion Stitched Squares and Inverted Stitched Lace Scalloped Squares.  I love this palette of pink and blue!!

Happy crafting!!

Today's share is the 30th birthday card I made  for my stepson's recent 30th birthday.

The topper is from Hunkydory's Pick 'n' Mix - A Retro Ride, teamed with gold mirror card, Kanban textured blue mirror card, blue Core'dinations and a piece of digi printed paper. I also used Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge square dies and First Edition Number dies.

Bow Card

I decided I would like to make my friends something different this year, and decided to go for a bow card. I initially purchased a template, but it wasn't big enough, so I decided to create my own. I started with the basic shapes, and then created the template for the mats and layers. It took a bit of fiddling around, but eventually I had what I wanted.

The papers I chose for this one were all peachy/orange tones. For the bow bases, I used Core'dinations - a lightweight card. The two papers shown at the back are digi papers - but am not sure what CD or download I printed them from. The paper at the front is very, very old. Twenty eight years old. It's a hand made, marbled paper that I created when I was volunteering at a local school while I was waiting to go to Uni to re-train as a teacher. We were marbling with the class, and I was mopping up all the left over ink before the next lot went in. I have kept the papers all these years - and finally decided to use them up.

The flower is cut with Gemini Elements - Elegant Ranunculus - dies, and the sentiment is stamped with Tattered Lace Distress Ink, and comes from Crafter's Companion Birthday Greetings clear stamp set. I also inked the edges of all the papers with Tattered Rose DI.

The hexagon card was printed onto white stamping card, and cut by hand.

Time to Celebrate

Today's share is a little card made using Hunkydory's "A Birthday Surprise" from their Pick 'n' Mix selection.

I used a 5x5 scalloped card blank, with some gold mirror card. I used a Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge Square die to create the back layer, and a square of light green card to match the topper. And all it needed to finish off, was a little bow.

Fun On Safari

It was recently my eldest grandson's second birthday. We've barely seen him this past year, and missed his first birthday! Anyway, we were able to have a garden visit this weekend, and I made his birthday card using Hunkydory's Pick and Mix - Fun On Safari topper sheet.

I teamed it up with card card from Manly Moments, and Floral Delights - both Hunkydory packs. The name was cut with Diamond Press Block Alpha dies, and the number using Crafter's Companion 3" number dies.

My Valentine

My husband is very into wildlife - he works for our local wildlife trust - so I do like to use wildlife themed things for his cards.  This Hunkydory topper set, was a member's free gift.  It's from the Meadow Hares collection, and is called "Hello Hare".

It really didn't need much else other than a piece of gold mirror card, and a sentiment cut using Crafter's Companion Essentials dies.

Birthday wishes

I made this card for a friend of mine. It uses an old Create and Craft Topper and patterned card. I love the sage green colours of the card, and it makes me feel like (hopefully) Spring and Summer are not too far away.

The gold card is from Crafter's Companion Precious Metals Luxury Card pack, and I used a few gold coloured flat back pearls with ribbon to finish it all off.

Happy crafting,

Football!

Yes! Another football card. This one is Hunkydory - and I think it's a Made for Men one, but can't be sure. The grey background card is Manly Moments card block, and the blue dotty card is from my local market.

The little dots are from a really old embellishment sheet bought from The Range.

You know the drill!!

This one was for my brother-in-law - a carpenter/joiner by trade! Love the colours of the topper.

I used Hunkydory's Pick & Mix -You're Tool-rific, with some gold mirror card and yellow and brown Core'dinations card. The letters were cut with Crafter's Companion Diamond Block Alpha.

Unfortunately the Core'dinations came away from the mirror card in the post - am hoping it was just because I didn't use enough!

More Heavenly Hummingbirds

This one was for my sister - and another one made with the Heavenly Hummingbirds from Hunkydory's In Full Plume collection.

Just a little bit of Core'dinations and silver mirror cards was all that was needed for this one. Along with stonking big bow!!

Happy crafting, and may I wish you all a much better 2021 - we all deserve it!

Mum's Birthday

For my Mum's birthday, I used this topper from a very old collection I think I bought from Create and Craft.

It's a very pretty topper, with equally gorgeous cardstock. If memory serves me right, the old Kanban were the manufacturers of this.

I added a bit of purple and blue Core'dinations card, along with some silver mirror card, all finished off with a bow and some flat-backed pearls.

Happy crafting,

Heavenly Hummingbirds

This card was for my niece, using Hunkydory's In Full Plume "Heavenly Hummingbirds".

The co-ordinating patterned card is from the set, and I used some silver mirror card, and teal card from Papermill. The letters are cut with the alphabet set from Crafter's Companion Kinetic Card collection.

The Perfect Blend

Have a few remaining family birthday cards that I haven't shared, and hopefully I can get them all shared before the end of the year - which will be a first!

This one was for one of my stepdaughters, and is using Hunkydory Pick 'n' Mix "The Perfect Blend".

I used a cream scalloped card base from my stash, with some foiled Kanban card, with came with a set that was all about coffee and cake, as I recall (it's that old). I also used a bit of Tim Holtz Distress Shattered Core'dinations card too.

The letters are cut using an alphabet set that was part of an old Crafter's Companion Kinetic Card die collection.

Happy crafting,

December Birthday

So, I have been working full time in school the past two weeks, which means I haven't been able to really focus on anything else. At Use Your Craft Stash, we still have a Christmas theme, but after the announcement earlier, I am really not feeling festive. So, here is the last of my 5 hat easel cards, made for my friend's December birthday. Instructions for making the hat easel can be found in a previous post.  The making of the flowers can be found in another post

For the base, I used A3 Centura Pearl, and the pink card is Crafter's Companion A3 Shabby Chic Classic. The other patterned card is from a very old DCWV Luxury Cardstock Stack.

Happy crafting.

A Birthday Surprise!

This is the birthday card I made for my stepdaughter. I used one of the toppers from the Hunkydory Pick and Mix sheet - A Birthday Surprise! The patterned card (I think) is from another old Hunkydory Topper set, teamed up with orange and green Core'dinations and gold mirror card.

The letters were cut with Crafter's Companion Decorative Alphabet.

Happy crafting.
