About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Home Sweet Home!

This new home card was made using a topper from Kanban Well Wishes and Celebrations.
I also used the gorgeous Moving Frame from Yvonne Creations Moving Madness collection of dies. The frame was cut in matt silver, cream, brown, pink and green, and then I fussy cut out the pieces to build up the picture.

All of this was mounted onto a piece of double sided card from Crafter's Companion, mounted onto matt silver card.

As the message was on the topper, I didn't need the little banner at the top of the frame, so added a bow to fill it up.

Birthday Card

This card was made for my stepson's girlfriend. The topper is Hunkydory Scrumptious Cakes - and the striped card came with the topper.
The white card is Centura Pearl Snow White Hint of Gold, embossed with Crafter's Companion A4 Delicate Floral embossing folder. The letters are cut with Crafter's Companion Essentials Alphabet.

Teenage Girl

This card was for my teenage niece. I used a topper and card sheet from Hunkydory's Perfect Princesses Luxury Topper collection.
There's not much else to say, except I used some mirror card to matt and layer, and for the wording and numbers which were cut with Crafter's Companion Diamond Press Block alphabet set. I finished it off as ever with a bow and sparkler.

Special Anniversary

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law celebrated 30 years of marriage this year. I made this 8x8 card for them, using heart toppers and a sentiment from an old Kanban kit.
The background is made from Centura Pearl and Crafter's Companion A3 Double Sided Decadence Card. I used Crafter's Companion Downton Abbey - Downton Decor die, with lace and ribbon to decorate.

Take care,

A new little baby!

My husband's nephew and his girlfriend have recently become parents - and it was the first in a new generation on that side of the family - first baby, first grandchild, first great-grandchild. So, that called for a few special cards.

Many year ago I bought a huge collection of Kanban toppers and papers based around various celebrations - including births. So I used a combination of papers, toppers and Centura Pearl card to create three cards.
The first card was and 8x8 card for the parents. I used Spellbinders Grand Decorative circle dies, and Crafter's Companion Create a Card Base Die - Stacey - to create the tags.
The second was a 7x7 for the grandparents, using Crafter's Companion Essential Only Words Dies.
And the third was for the great grandparents. This was an A5 card, with Crafter's Companion Essentials Only Words dies.

Take care,

Scrappy Quilt - Finished!

Managed to bind the quilt over the last couple of days. Nothing complicated.
I cut 2" strips from a piece of random green cotton fabric in my stash, and joined them to make a piece of continuous binding.
The length was folded in half and ironed, then sewn to the back of the quilt. Because I am lazy and don't always have the patience for hand sewing, I then top-stitched the binding on the front.
It is not, by any means, a perfect specimen of a quilt, but Molly seems to like it - so I'm happy with that.

Scrappy Quilting

Needed something to do today that was pretty mindless - in that I didn't need to concentrate too much. So I decided to make a scrap quilt - but in a very scrappy way. I didn't bother much about lining things up, or quilting straight lines.
When I first wanted to do patchwork a few years ago, I bought charm packs in various colours - and there was always some that I just didn't really like. So this is a combination of all the ones left that I didn't want to use - along with a few other bits and pieces to fill it out.

I'm really not bothered that it's a bit all over the place colour wise - it'll be for the dog, so she's not going to be bothered. I've backed it with fleece to make it a bit cosier for her.

Next job will be cutting some binding and finishing it off. But I'm pleased with it so far.

Playing Catch Up

I have been spending some time getting my Pinterest boards up to date with all my photos - most of which I have never blogged. I am hoping to get them onto Instagram at some point too - but we'll wait and see whether that happens! If you are interested, then please pop over to my Pinterest board and take a look - and maybe follow me there too. I'm there under Papercraft by Carole.

As I'm not yet too far behind with my 2018 pictures, I though I would do a couple of blog post over the next few days to get myself back on track. Today I have two cards I made for Mother's Day - one for my Mum and one for my Mother-in-Law.

Both were made using Hunkydory "A Relaxing Day" topper sheet and matching card.

The easel card is a pre-cut blank - I think it was from Craftwork cards.

A Blast From The Past

It's been a while since I came on here - seems I say that a lot. And I'm not promising to blog regularly. But, I have been sorting out photos and pinning a lot. And I came across some old Paint Fusion photos - quite apt as Sheena is on Hochanda on Friday with Paint Fusion. Can't believe it's about 7 years ago that these first came out!!

These are just a few of my photos. I remember loving Paint Fusion and made so many gifts for friends with all the different flowers as they came out.

Really looking forward to seeing a fresh twist on it.

Take care
