About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Day 19 - A Challenge For The Future

Evening!! Today I am sharing a photo of a "challenge" that I know I want to have a go at - but right now, am not sure when and how I will do it. I am really enjoying getting to grips with Patchwork and Quilting at the moment, and a while back I heard about a book called Dear Jane.
It's written by a lady called Brenda Manges Papadakis and is based around an 1863 Quilt by Jane A. Stickle. In it, she shows the geometric patterns of all 225 patterns from the original quilt. Alongside this, she has a website that contains hints and tips for creating each block and pattern.

My hope is to start to work through the blocks - eventually creating my own quilt (which they call a Baby Jane). Now this is a mammoth undertaking, and I know that it will be a long term thing - but I have made a start by investing in the book and the quilting templates that have been designed to help create the blocks and patterns.

I need to make a decision as to whether this is going to just be an "as and when" project - or something I set out on with a more definite (if very long term) plan. As yet, I am not sure. So, watch this space.
Back tomorrow,
Cxxxx

  1. Good luck with your challenge. I haven't got in to quilting, I dare not start another hobby! Not sure if saw the C&C show this morning but they asked viewers to send in 5x5 inch squares (raw edges) together with your name, and Jennie Rayment is going to make it into a big quilt. I think I might be tempted by that! Creative Blessings, Tracy x

    1. Hi Tracy - no I didn't catch that this morning as I was working. Will have to see if I can get it on the Internet - or on Craft Extra. Sounds fun!! Thanks for letting me know. Cxx
