About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Time to Celebrate

Today's share is a little card made using Hunkydory's "A Birthday Surprise" from their Pick 'n' Mix selection.

I used a 5x5 scalloped card blank, with some gold mirror card. I used a Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge Square die to create the back layer, and a square of light green card to match the topper. And all it needed to finish off, was a little bow.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

A quick note for anyone who receives updates from me via email. This facility is being removed from Blogger from July this year, and will mean that you will no longer receive updates about my blog via e-mail. If you still wish to follow me, and access the blog, you can follow direct on the blog, via my Facebook Page - Papercraft By Carole, via my Instagram feed - pcbcarole, or via Pinterest - Papercraft By Carole . You can also follow via Twitter - Papercraft By Carole, although I don't post everything there.

Today I have a "New Home" card to share, made with a topper set from my stash.

I used Hunkydory's Special Days "Home is where the Heart is" topper and card set, along with some gold matt mirror card.  The frame was made with Spellbinders Grand Squares, and the scalloped edges were created with paper from Lidl Crelando Drawing Pad, and Spellbinders Classic Triple Scallop Edge'abilities.

Fun On Safari

It was recently my eldest grandson's second birthday. We've barely seen him this past year, and missed his first birthday! Anyway, we were able to have a garden visit this weekend, and I made his birthday card using Hunkydory's Pick and Mix - Fun On Safari topper sheet.

I teamed it up with card card from Manly Moments, and Floral Delights - both Hunkydory packs. The name was cut with Diamond Press Block Alpha dies, and the number using Crafter's Companion 3" number dies.

Happy crafting,

Born to Sparkle

My niece had her second lockdown birthday - 17 this time round. She couldn't take her GCSE's last year because of the pandemic, and missed out on her chance to sparkle at her prom.  She's now studying dance and drama at college, and seems none the worse for wear.

For her card, I used Hunkydory Rose Quartz Dreams - Born to Sparkle topper and card. It was a bit tricky to photograph due to its pearly finish, but looks very pretty in real life. I used a really old DL card blank, and silver glitter card from a CC Luxury cardstock pack.

Anniversary Bubbles

A recent card for my brother- and sister-in-law's Anniversary.

These are from a distant past Kanban collection called Love and Marriage. The die cut topper matches beautifully with the Kraft effect paper from the co-ordinating paper pad.

The purple paper is from a 1212 pad from Crafter's Companion called "Spring is in the Air", and I added a little silver glitter card from a Crafter's Companion Luxury Card pack.

Easter Chicks

Easter isn't a time of year that I make many cards. Usually just the two for my nieces, as something to put their Easter money in. This year, I have used Spring Friends - Little Tweets from Hunkydory's Design Collection Box #13.

I used the two printed/patterned pieces of card to make the bases. I used my Top Score and scored the first one on the Gatefold A4 line, then turned the card completely round, before doing the same on the other side. For the Z-fold/Fold-back card, I scored on the Gatefold A4 line and the half fold A4 line.

For the gatefold, I used the circle topper, and added a scalloped circle cut from Core'dinations card. For the inside, I covered the centre section with the co-ordinating paper, and used Crafter's Companion Inverted Stitched Lacy Circles, and Spellbinders Circle dies to create a place to write a message.

For the fold-back card, I used the oval topper and added a plain oval cut from Core'dinations card. On the inside, I used Spellbinders Ovals, and Crafter's Companion Inverted Stitched Lacy Ovals to create a place to write a message.

The rest of the kit from the box magazine has gone into my stash - to be be used at a later date!

Happy crafting,
