About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

CCM&M 109 - This is a man's world!!

Yay!!!! It's my turn to host the challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and More!! And I have chosen 'This Is a Man's World' - so any project suitable for a boy or a man. We are sponsored by Flourish with a Bling - who have a wonderful $15 gift voucher on offer. And also by The Stamping Boutique. They are offering 3 images of the winner's choice - BUT if the winner has used one of their images, then this goes up to 4 images!! Get on over to their website to check out their fab digis!!

So, we all tend to moan about making cards for the men and boys in our lives - me as much as anyone else. I've lost track of the variations of football themed cards I've managed to come up with over the years. But, in truth, there are some really fabulous images out there for male cards - we just need to look!! Check out the DT inspiration on the CCM&M blog to see what they all came up with.

I have used an image from our sponsors The Stamping Boutique called AJ the racing car driver
I already had the striped backing card in mind when I chose this image, so I cut a little sample, stuck it on a piece of card and then matched my Promarkers to it. From these base colours, I added in a few more for blending, some skin colours and the Warm Greys for shading and the tyres.
I made my A5 base card using a piece of brown card from my stash. Both patterned cards are from a very old 12x12 DCWV Spring Glitter Stack. I used more of the brown to matt and layer, along with a piece of white card from my stash onto which I mounted the image. The blue organza and brown satin ribbons are from my stash, as are the buttons (the greens are from the Papermania Sew Lovely range). I tied a little twine through the buttons for added interest. Finishing touches are Cosmic Shimmer Aqua Twinkles on the front of the car, and Glossy Accents on the headlights.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you all make - and am sure I will be busy visiting your blogs over the next couple of weeks.

I would like to enter this into:
