About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Double Swing Card

Morning. I made this double diamond swing card for my husband for our wedding anniversary.

I used Crafter's Companion Diamond Swing die.

I cut the die twice on dark blue card - once on each side - to create the double. I also wanted the card larger, so extended the score lines.

To decorate, I used papers from a very old Brenda Pinnick 12x12 paper pad - from the days of QVC craft. As the card was larger, the die was too small to cut the mats, so I used it as a guide for cutting the diagonal pieces.

I did, however, use the decorative layer die - which gives you an idea of how much I extended the card. The original die set came with a Happy Birthday sentiment, but at the time there were other sentiment dies available. This is the Just For You die. I also used my Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge Square dies. I also decorated the back of the swing sections.

The little sprigs and hearts to decorate are cut with dies from an old CC Advent calendar. The colours do look different in my final photos - but it's just the light - and they are truer than the step by steps.

Happy crafting.
