About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

CCM&M Challenge #114 - A Floral Profusion!

Hello to you all!! What a beautiful day we had yesterday - was absolutely perfect for walking in the Purbecks - a great family day out - and lots of money raised for Dorset Wildlife Trust too!!

A break today from the sneaky peeks - as it's Challenge time over at Crafty Cardmakers and More! This fortnight, Fiona would like to see your creations that showcase your handmade flowers - the more the merrier.

We are sponsored by Crafty Sentiments Designs, who are offering the winner three digi images of their choice!

I have used an image from our sponsors called 'Benson Bear - A Bundle of Hearts' as the focal point for my card.

As I have been very much immersing myself in all things Crafter's Companion for the last couple of weeks, it will come as no surprise that I used my new Spectrum Noirs to colour with. I am still getting used to them - but am fairly pleased at how it turned out.

The colours I used are: Bear = FS1, FS2, FS3. FS7, EB6, TN2, TN5, TN7; Hearts = PP1, PP5, DR4, DR6; Background = LY1, LY2, LY3

The image is mounted onto a Die'sire Chantilly Lace stamping frame.

I then spent a little time watching Leann Chivers You Tube video about how to use my new Die'sire flower quilling dies. I have the Sunflower dies - but decided to use the Rose ones (both large and small) I don't have the Stamen die - so quilled a piece of yellow card to serve as the centre, then doubled up two shades of pink/red Bazzill card for each flower. I'm not sure they turned out exactly right - but am happy enough with them as a first attempt. The little bit of greenery peeping round the back is cut with Die'sire Leaf 2 die.

I finished off with some pearls from my stash, and some glitter glue on the centres of the flowers.

Please make sure you pop over to the Crafty Cardmakers and More Blog for more great inspiration. Looking forward to seeing what you create!!

I would like to enter this into:
