About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Cricketer Card!

So, this year for my husband's birthday, I decided to go for a cricketing theme as he is a very keen Somerset fan. (He was at the T20 match last night, and took great pride in showing me the very blurred image of himself on Sky Sports today!)

The image is from Beanpole Books 'Runner Bean' Sports Templates, and was cut using my Craft Robo . I used quite a thick green card - so it didn't cut all the way through. But with a little bit of coaxing and a sharp craft knife, I managed to 'release' the image!!

I mounted the cricketer onto a piece of Papermania Portobello Road paper - the newspaper effect one, and again onto another piece of the green card. The base card has a green mat cut with the Spellbinders Postage Stamp Edgeability, and embossed with That Special Touch Dotty mask. On top of this I used another piece of the Portobello Road Paper, edged with an insert from the Postage Stamp set. The strip across the middle is grungeboard - the type that comes pre-embossed - which I inked with Antique Linen DI.

Waste from cutting with the insert was used to embellish the card, and the letters were cut with X-Cut Abracadabra Alphabet die.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

  5. Yay! Cricket! Somerset is my second team (after Durham 'cos my family's from the North East) because I really admire Marcus Trescothick for being so open about his depression - he's a good egg.

This is a wonderful card, so right for a cricket fan! Thanks for joining in at Dream Valley!
