Lighthouse

Good afternoon. It's been a little while between posts, as I was really busy with other stuff and sort of lost my mojo a bit. But, hopefully, I am back on track and will be back shortly with the next Use Your Craft Stash inspiration. 

So, here is the card I made for my husband for his birthday last weekend. I think birthdays at the moment are quite odd - hopefully everyone will be able to celebrate when we lockdown is eased more.

The topper is an old Kanban one called Seaside Holiday. I use gold mirror card and red and pale blue Core'dinaions card for the mats. The beige layer is from Sara Signature Sew Homemade 12x12 paper pad and the red check one is Papermania (can't remember the collection for this one).  I cut the net from gold paper using Amy Designs Maritime Fishing Net die. And my trusty Diamond Press Block Alpha dies were used for the name.

Baby Cards

Last week, I shared a baby card with you, that I had made for our new Great Nephew. Today, I have the other two cards - one was sent to my in-laws (Great Grandparents) and the other to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law (Grandparents).

This one is using Hunkdory Special Moments - Bundle of Joy topper. I used silver mirror card and the paper is from an old Kanban paper pad. The words are from Crafter's Companion Essentials Only Words collection.

This one is Kanban Bundle of Joy Topper, with co-ordinating paper from the same Kanban paper pad as above. More silver mirror card and the dies are from same collection.

New Baby

Good morning!! Today I have the first of three baby cards to share. We have a new baby in the family - my nephew and his girlfriend have had a second baby boy. The first card is the one I sent to them. The other two, which I will share in the next couple of days, were for the grandparents and great grandparents.

So, Fletcher was born on Monday and I had to wait until the cards were received before posting. 

This is an 8x8 card using Hunkydory Pick and Mix Little Effalumps.  The background is made up of matt gold mirror card, the blue stars is from a Hunkydory card pack and the pale blue and yellow are from an old Kanban Pad. The white Centura Pearl is embossed with an old Crafter's Companion Embossalicious Everyday folder called Clouds. The balloons are cut with Crafter's Companion Essentials Balloons, and the clouds are from the Sara Signature Little Angel collection.  Lettering is cut with Diamond Press Alpha letters. The little star decorations are the waste from cutting the balloons.

We are looking forward to the day we can meet our great nephew - and also see our grandchildren again. Hopefully in the not too distant future.

A New Home

It's not been an easy road for them with all the COVID-19 stuff, but my stepson and his girlfriend were finally able to move house this week.

I managed to rustle up a simple card from my stash. The patterned card and toppers are very old Kanban - Home Sweet Home. And I just mounted them onto green and red core-dinations card with a few pearls. Simple and quick! 

Having lived in a small ground floor flat, they are starting to get used to having a garden and an upstairs!! Doug, the dog, is not going to know himself!!

All at Sea

Morning!! New week - new challenge at Use Your Craft Stash. The time the theme is "All at Sea" and/or "Blue".  So anything related to the sea - mermaids, fish, boats, beaches, lighthouses, beach huts - or just anything blue. Pretty wide scope there!!

I've gone for both this week. I started with an old Kanban Topper sheet called Beach Huts and Boats. I know it's very old because there are some postmarks on the little tags that say 2007!! 

I decided to use the whole sheet and make a little boxed set of cards. I used some 5x5 Scalloped Card Blanks from my stash, then looked through my boxes for all my blue patterns and dumped it all on my desk before sorting through and making decisions.

I ended up using the pad of paper from Lidl called Summer - it's the green one poking out from underneath. This one's been in my stash for a few years - and it had the perfect sea themed, blue papers in there.

I used some 12x12 blue card for the first layer - the boats have it embossed with Leoie Pujol's Bubble Explosion and then inked with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.  I used an old Kanban card sheet called Beige Script (think it came with a birds set) and the paper from the pad that looked like waves. I also used the little tags with some baker's twine.

For the beach huts, I embossed the blue card with Sara Signature Contemporary Christmas Elegant Snowfall folder, and again inked with Faded Jeans. I used another old Kanban card sheet called Natural Felt, and chose the seashell paper for these. I also used the sentiments that came on the topper sheet. All four had the addition of some flat back pearls.

The box was made on my Crafter's Companion Big Score using A3 Centura Pearl Snow White card.  I decorated the top with the same card and paper - and used my Embossalicious Everyday Beach Hut Folder - again with Faded Jeans ink. I also used the last of the sentiments from the sheet.

When I do commissioned cards, I generally only do boxed cards of various sizes, and I always like to decorate the inside of the box too. So I used up scraps to line both the inside of the lid and the base in a similar way to the top.

Silver Wedding

Over the summer, it was my sister and brother-in-law's silver wedding anniversary! I made them this boxed card using Kanban Love and Marriage toppers.

Purple is my sister's colour (I know - I had to wear the bridesmaid's dress!) so most of the cards I make for her are purple. The base of the card is made using one of the Crafter's Companion A3 double sided card packs - can't remember what the name of the pack is though.

I used the Kanban topper (perfect colour), and cut circles of purple, lilac, white and silver card using my Spellbinders Grand Decorative Circles 1. All finished off with a big bow!

I also made a matching box!!

To the Happy Couple

A very good friend of mine is today marrying a lovely man and starting a new life together. I made this card for them using a Kanban Love and Marriage. 

I used patterned card and paper from my stash to matt and layer with pink card onto the base. The patterned background piece was cut from the pink card using Crafter's Companion Die'sire A6 Daisy Dreams Create a Card die. 

The Kanban topper sits on top of that, and the card is finished with lace, a lace bow, and a Hobby House sparkler.

Applique Card - Flowers

Was feeling adventurous with this one. I wanted to do some sewing and be able to use it to create a card. I started by ironing on Heat & Bond Lite Adhesive (which is sewable) to pieces of fabric from my scrap box, then used Crafter's Companion Die'sire Spring Flowers Mixed Media dies to cut out the shapes.

These were ironed onto a piece of white cotton and sewn with my sewing machine. This was placed on a piece of patterned fabric, and with thin wadding and interfacing underneath. I used decorative stitches on my sewing machine to quilt them together. 

I used red tape to attach this to an 8x8 card base, and cut a circular aperture with Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Circle in a piece of Kanban British Birds card, to provide a frame and cover the edges of the material.

Finally, I finished off with ribbon and paper roses.

Home Sweet Home!

This new home card was made using a topper from Kanban Well Wishes and Celebrations. 

I also used the gorgeous Moving Frame from Yvonne Creations Moving Madness collection of dies. The frame was cut in matt silver, cream, brown, pink and green, and then I fussy cut out the pieces to build up the picture.

All of this was mounted onto a piece of double sided card from Crafter's Companion, mounted onto matt silver card. 

As the message was on the topper, I didn't need the little banner at the top of the frame, so added a bow to fill it up.

A new little baby!

My husband's nephew and his girlfriend have recently become parents - and it was the first in a new generation on that side of the family - first baby, first grandchild, first great-grandchild. So, that called for a few special cards.

Many year ago I bought a huge collection of Kanban toppers and papers based around various celebrations - including births. So I used a combination of papers, toppers and Centura Pearl card to create three cards.

The first card was and 8x8 card for the parents. I used Spellbinders Grand Decorative circle dies, and Crafter's Companion Create a Card Base Die - Stacey - to create the tags. 

The second was a 7x7 for the grandparents, using Crafter's Companion Essential Only Words Dies. 

And the third was for the great grandparents. This was an A5 card, with Crafter's Companion Essentials Only Words dies.

Teddy Bear!

Morning! More colouring today! This time with the Spectrum Noir Illustrator pens. The image is from Just Inklined, and is called Baby Boys Clothes. However, you can see that I chose to use pinks and purples to colour it in.

The colours I used are: 

Teddy: Tints - Blossom, Moonlight, Tones - Pink Lace, Vintage Pink, Portrait - Ivory

Blankets: Tints - Vanilla, Moonlight,
Blossom, Tones - Pink Lace, Vintage Pink, Wisteria, Old Lavender, Portrait - Ivory
Booties: Tones - Wisteria, Old Lavender, Tints - Lavender, Vanilla, Moonlight,
Portrait - Ivory

The sentiment stamp is from Crafter’s Inspiration 6, the patterned papers from an old Kanban A4 pad, and I decorated with pearls.

Day 79 - Celebration!!

Evening! Today is the wedding anniversary of my lovely brother- and sister-in-law. So, I am sharing the card I made for them.

I started with the Kanban Love and Marriage topper, and cut the large decorative mat using Matt Black card and Die'sire Decadance Create a Card. The square mat that comes out of the middle of this was used for mounting the sentiment - Die'sire Essentials Only Words Happy Birthday & Anniversary with Spellbinders Sapphire Ribbon Slider. The flowers are Die'sire Flowers for All Occasions 3.

Day 63 - Thinking of You

Evening all - am trying to get my post done so I can settle back and enjoy the exciting launch of Sara Davies' new Signature Collection on Hochanda!!

Today's share is one of those cards that we all hate making - but have to from time to time. This one was for my brother-in-law who lost his Mum last week - horrible at any time, but with Mother's Day this weekend, it's makes it even sadder.

I kept it simple with a Kanban Topper from a very old kit called Well Wishes and Celebrations, and teamed it with some gunmetal grey pearl card, matt black card, and white card.  The flourish is from Sara Davies' Signature Collection - Butterfly Lullaby.
