Day 94 - Blog Post 500!!

Wow - 500 blog posts - nearly 100 of which have been just this year!! Been out and about today, so not much time to craft. 

But this is what has been sitting on my craft desk all day. Hopefully will do something with it tomorrow.

Day 93 - Aquatints!

Evening. Not much to share tonight. Just a couple of Aquatint backgrounds in preparation for a particular project.

Both use Perfect Primaries 12, Pretty Pastels 55 and Bright and Beautiful 15. The one on the left is using the clingfilm technique, and the one on right is the salt technique.

Day 91 - Blue is the colour.....

Evening!! Have had a much better day today - headache gone, so managed to get loads done. Loads of things - but not much crafting!! Been to the chiropracter, then out for a muddy ride on my bike. I then spent time in the garden, planting my onion sets, and checking on the progress in the greenhouse. And this evening I went paddleboarding. I managed to squeeze a very small amount of time to craft - and transformed some cream paper roses into blue paper roses. Not the obvious colour you may think - but they are for a project I am working on.

All I did was to scribble my Navy Spectrum Aqua pen on a white tile, water it down and apply it to the rose with a paintbrush - making sure it was all covered. I think I'll add some sparkle to them too before I use them.

Day 75 - All set up....

..... for some more playing with aquatints. Not much more to share as feeling a bit fragile today. Have a pain in my leg every time I move - not sure if it is my leg, hip or back. But has been wearing me down all day making me feel quite tired. 

But it's all out ready, and I've got my new Distress Splatter brush out to play with!! Will share some of the results tomorrow. And then I'll have to decide what to make with the results!!

Day 73 - A Few Embellishments!

Evening. Having made the flowers for my canvas, I felt I needed a few other embellishments and a sentiment or two.

I bought these heart and butterfly wooden embellishments ages ago in The Range. They've been sat in a little tub just waiting for the right project. And I think they'll work just right on the canvas.

I painted them with Pebeo Pearl Silk paint, and stamped with Walnut Stain Ink using Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy Best Friend Swirls, and Splats and Stains and Journal Jottings from Crafter's Companion Textures collection.

My original idea for the canvas was to use word stamps - and I decided on three from Crafter's Companion's Destinations Life is a Journey stamp set - PAUSE, RELAX, UNWIND!

I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink, and didn't put the stamps on any blocks. The were inked up on my craft mat, and the card pressed down on top - this gave the border effect around the edge of the words.

So now it's all ready to assemble together.

Day 70 - Preparation!

I am trying to get ahead on family and friends things as, once I hit May, there are loads and loads. So, I have just about had time today to prepare a few bits for a card I will be making. 

You may spy the Die'sire Square Accordion card overlay, a bit of Downton Abbey patterened card, along with the green card from a very old DCWV Luxury Cardstock stack. And of course red card from Papermill for the base!!

Day 53 - All cut up!!

Evening!! Had a busy day today. Full day of teaching, quick run after work, and a few computer things to get sorted after this. So, another quick post this evening.

Having shared a picture of my newly washed fabric stash, I have now cut into a lot of it in preparation for future projects.

I have matched a pattern with a block colour - and you can see some wadding in there too as I intend to quilt one or two items!! 

It's now all safely stored in my recently acquired sewing basket - waiting for when I have more time to sit and sew!!

Day 52 - Fabric Stash!!

Evening!! It is becoming obvious to me through doing this image a day, that I seem to have lots of different projects going on at the same time - including things I've started and not got round to finishing - and things I've got a head start on and have put away to finish later. And then I always seem to be starting something new too!!

Well, on Friday I visited my local fabric store as I needed something for an upcoming project or two (any excuse). And I had a bit of a blow out!! So, yesterday I washed and dried all the fabric - I only do this when I have bought off the roll by the metre - not when I have pre-cut pieces. So this morning I had a marathon ironing session. This is one of the few times that I iron - I really don't like doing it - but I also don't like working with really wrinkled fabric.

And now I have a lovely pile of gorgeous fabric ready to be cut up for the projects I have in mind.
