Precious Marieke - Flowers & Friends

This is my last share of recordings from Hixxy Studio. This one has four projects using Precious Marieke's Flowers and Friends Collection.

I used the Circle With Birds die on this card. The base is Yvonne Creations Octagon Flower Card, with an alcohol ink background.

This easel card uses Bird Frame and Birds In A Row.

This one has the Bird Corner with Julie Hickey Designs Sweet Pea Alphabet.  There is no video loaded to YouTube for this one, unfortunately.

And finally, a rainbow Happy Birthday card using Birds In a Row and the Sweet Pea Alphabet.

Farm Landscape card

Hello! I was given this cute little die set to play with from Precious Marieke. It's from the Cuddling On The Farm collection, and is called Farm Landscape.

I have gone for natural tones - but it could really jazzed up for a child's card. The dies cut out the front piece with the rooster and fence, the barn and the sky with the mountain silhouette. I have cut this in blue and white and paper pieced the clouds back in. 

I also cut the front piece again in green and snipped into it to have some grass in front of the fence. I mounted some card behind the barns, and cut  piece of green by hand to create the illusion of fields behind the barns - before you reach the mountains. I added a frame over the top to cover the edges.

Foldback Gatefold Card

Today I am sharing a foldback gatefold card, with a belly band. I have used some brown and cream card, with a beautiful copper toned Centura Pearl from the Metallics pack. The video demonstration can be accessed by clicking the picture below (it's the first 45 minutes from the FB live). 

To make the card, I have used a piece of card 4 3/4" wide by 5 1/4" for the back, and two pieces 5 7/8" wide by 5 1/4" for the gatefold sides. These two pieces need to be scored at 3" from one end, and 3/8" from the other. This small end sticks around behind the back piece of the card.

 

The decorative pieces on the front are cut with Precious Marieke: Cuddling on the Farm - Wheat Border. You get one die for the flowers in the set, and I cut this out multiple times in the cream and coppper. I used a small circle punch to cut the centres out of the copper to put on the cream. It's a bit time-consuming - but well worth the effort.

For the inside, I have used the Chicken Wire Frame die set from the same collection. The main die cuts out the frame, and leaves you with a decorative piece which I have cut in half and used on the inner panels. I cut it in copper too, and just used that central piece for layering. The other die that comes with the set was used to cut the cream pieces for the inner panels and the centre - a place for your sentiment.

For the belly band, I used a piece of card that was the length of an A4 sheet, and 1" wide. This was scored at 2 3/4" from each end. When folded, the ends don't quite meet so you need to fix a small piece of card behind this. I put this at the front of the belly band as it would be concealed by the bow. Use red liner tape to fix your ribbon to the card.

Slide this over your card to keep it shut.

Rose Box

This little box has a big impact because of the rose on the box. I used Rich Red Foundations card from Creative Expressions, and also Ivory Foundations for decorating the top. Click on the picture to take you to the video of this project.

The base of the box is made from an 8 1/4" square of card, scored on the Box Base side of your scoring board at 1 5/8" all round.

The lid is made from a 6 3/4" square of card, scored on the Box Lid side of your scoring board at 7/8" all round.

For the top of the box, I used Precious Marieke: Cuddling on the Farm - Chicken Wire Frame. I cut the die twice out of the Ivory card. One is used as it is. The other I cut into four pieces - halfway along each edge. I arranged these so that the corners created the points of the diamond shape that you can see. I also cut it out of the red card, but only needed the inside part that is cut out. There is also a smaller die which is used to cut the little ivory mat. 

I drew around the die on red card to create the mat for the frame, and I used a piece of patterned paper to just separate that from the red of the box.

To make the rose, I used Elizabeth Craft Designs: Garden Notes - English Rose. There are two leaf dies that I didn't use, along with the two 3-petal dies, four single petal dies (my picture only show two of them), and a larger petal die that makes the centre.

 

The petals need to be pinched in at the bottom, then curled over at the top.

 

The three petal dies need an embossing tool running over the petals, and then the tops are curled over. The centre petal is rolled, with the end folded back, and the top curled over.

Stick the 3-petal pieces together - I used two of each, and then put glue in the middle (I used 3D glue gel) to stick the centre part in. I added more glue in around the centre and added all the petals - I used several of each.

I then quilled (I use that term loosely, as I am no quiller) some little leaf shapes to arrange around the rose. I cut thin pieces of the same paper I used on the top of the box - cutting it down the length of the A4 sheet. Using a quilling tool, I rolled them up and put them in the size 3 hole on my board (this was a magazine freebie many years ago). I then flattened one side of the coil, and fixed it with glue.

Diagonal Flower Border

Here's a slightly different take on a edge style die - I used the Jeanine's Art: Humming Bees - Flower Edge die to cut into the card rather than cutting an edge.

I started by marking on my card, where I wanted the die to cut, and then placed the die there, before running it through the machine.

 

A piece of decorative paper is stuck behind - preferably double sided so it looks nice inside the card too - and a triangular mat and layer on the front. The decoupage, which is from the Buzzing Bees 3D Push Out, along with the bow, cover the other cuts that you don't want to see.

Lantern: The one where the glue wouldn't stick!!

Today's share is a Lantern that I made using Jeanine's Art "Welcome Spring" Flowers and Leaf Borders, with Precious Marieke "Beautiful Garden" Leaf Frame. I have put the link to the video on the first picture. To be honest, it was a bit of a disaster as none of the glue wanted to stick, so if nothing, it'll give you a laugh! 

The template is here as a JPG. Feel free to copy it. Printing it on full page will give you the biggest possible size. 

You will need two of these to complete your lantern. If your printer will take card, I suggest printing it straight onto the card. 

Cut the two pieces out as shown in the picture above.

Score down the middle between the two sides, and on the tab.

Then turn and score along the two "roof" parts. Don't forget the little tabs on the roof. 

Burnish all the folds, and it should end up looking like the photo above. Do not stick anything at this point. 

To cover the windows of the lantern, I cut the Leaf Frame die out of a piece of hessian printed paper from Crafter's Companion Sew Homemade paper pad. This was cut to size, and adhered to a piece of vellum, before attaching to each of the windows. 

Now you can assemble the lantern pieced. Stick the roof tabs on each. Attach a piece of twine to the inside of one piece before joining the two halves together. 

For all the sides, I cut two of the leaf borders in green.  For two of the sides, I cut the leaf in pink. The other two sides you need to cut the flowers from both the green and pink. The pink flower heads are cut and paper-pieced onto the green.

You can then arrange them on the sides of the lantern. This is the bit that just didn't want to work on the demo. It had all worked fine when prepping at home, but neither my tacky glue or my spray glue wanted to play ball. Hopefully, though, there is enough information, both in the video and here, for you to see how to do it.

Leaf Vine

Today's card uses Precious Marieke's Leaf Frame, and Elizabeth Crafts Clematis dies. I cut the frame twice from Centura Pearl Hint of Silver. I used a patterned paper with a purple border underneath. The sentiment is from Trimcrafts First Edition Sentiments set.

At One With Nature

 Today's make is an inky offering, with a little bit of die cutting. I have used AALL and Create's "At One With Nature" stamp set, with Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio and Fired Brick.

The background was created using the Oxide pads, blended onto white stamping card. I heat set it before spraying over the top with the Oxide sprays. One that was dry, I stencilled over it - again with the same colours. I made the stencil by cutting a piece of white stamping card with Precious Marieke's Leaf Frame die. Then I stamped over this with the daisy stamp from the AALL and Create set.

The tag, daisy and sentiment were stamped using Spectrum Noir Finesse Waterproof Ink in Flagstone. I inked over the tag and sentiment, but painted the daisy. These were stuck onto the background - and I also used pieces of the card stencil.

Rose Fence Square - Mini Easel Card

Hello. Hope you have all had a good weekend. I have a mini easel card to share today - it folds down to just over 4" square. 

I have used ivory card, with Precious Marieke's Rose Fence Square from the Romantic Roses collection. It doesn't show up in the picture, but I have also used acetate with Creative Expressions Molten Gold Pixie Sparkle Highlights. You can see it when the light shines through.

To that end, I had to cut the die four times. Once for the base card, two for the top of the card to sandwich the acetate, and one for the base of the card. The little roses and leaves are part of the set.

The two sentiments are from Trimcrafts Sentiments die set.

White "Queen Bee" Card

Good morning!! Today I have an almost white-on-white card to share. There is a little yellow there for the bee, and to add a little to the background - but it's mostly white.

When I do white-on-white cards, I try to use a variety of textures and tones of white. Here, the base is a straightforward white card, onto which I have matted Centura Pearl Snow White - Hint of Silver and white hammered card. The yellow mats are just white stamping card with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide. I embossed the pearl square with an old Verity Rose embossing folder called Cupcake. The lacy detail is provided using a die called Rose Frame from the Romantic Roses collection by Precious Marieke, cut from white linen card.

And the gorgeous bee is an IndigoBlu mini stamp called "Queen Bee". She is stamped with Spectrum Noir Finesse Waterproof Ink in Flagstone, and the yellow is created using Scattered Straw as before. I have added glossy accents to her wings.

Rose Frame

Good  morning! Am off to the Hixxy Studio shortly, but just wanted to pop on to share a card. This is an A5 card base, made using Creative Expressions Periwinkle Foundations card. The patterned paper is from my stash.

The gorgeous frame is Rose Frame from the Romantic Roses collection by Precious Marieke. It's a good size - and very intricate. I have used it to frame the little decoupage image from Jeanine's Art Bzzing Bees 3D Push Out collection.
