About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

A very different time.

In one of the strangest years ever, we have come to one of the busiest days for birthdays in my calendar - 3 of them. And I am going to share them over three posts - because I can - and because it gives me something to do. For all three of them, it's most definitely a different day to the one that they expected or had planned.

So my first share is for my grandson, Arlo, who is one today! We will not all be meeting up this weekend as originally planned for a big party - but that will happen once this is all over. We will hopefully get to "chat" later.

You may - or may not - know that there is a film with a dinosaur called Arlo - and Arlo has lots of dinosaur themed things. So his card had to be the same.

This is an 8x8 card base, and the topper is Hunkdory Pick and Mix - Dinotopia. I have used gold mirror card, yellow Core'dinations and the blue paper is from an old Papermania pack.  To cut the shapes, I used Spellbinders Grand Squares, Grand Scalloped Squares and Circles, with some Crafter's Companion Stitched Edge circles.

The 1 is cut using a really old Crafter's Companion 3" number die, and the letters using Diamond Press Block Alpha. And it's all finished off with some twine and flat backed pearls.

Enjoy today the best you can - wherever you are, and whatever you are doing. Stay safe.

Noah's Ark 2 by 2

Our family has been expanding in the past few years, and it means I am now getting to make some cards for the little ones. This one is for my great nephew who was two this  past week.

The topper is a Hunkydory Pick and Mix called Animals on the Ark - the whole two by two thing seemed appropriate for a 2nd birthday!! I teamed this with gold mirror card, orange Core'dinations card, Kanban Parcel Paper background card and some really old yellow Papermania stars paper.

The number is cut using Diamond Press Block Numbers, and the letters with Die'sire Kinetic alphabet.

I have to admit that this started out as a 6x6 card. But I stuck everything on the wrong way, so had to put it onto a 7x7 instead, and add the pearls. You wouldn't have known if I hadn't told you!!

Take care,
Cxxx

Anyone for a beer?

Afternoon, I have been busy crafting on some messy stuff for the past four days!! It's the most inspired I have been in ages - to the point where I got so carried away, that I forgot to feed the dog this morning!! Don't worry - she's got a full belly now! I will share all that at a later date - lots of step by step stuff to sort and edit.

Anyway, a quick card to share today - this one is made using Create and Craft's Birthday Celebrations kit. Orange is not usually a colour I would reach for - but really like how this turned out. It's not complicated - but still effective.
The image on the topper is just perfect for a man's card. The matching backing card is really effective - and all I added was the die cut name (Crafter's Companion Diamond Press Block Alpha) and the buttons.

Hopefully he'll have received this today - before I plaster it all over social media.

Birthday Boutique

This teenager's birthday card was made using Hunkydory's Birthday Boutique topper and card set.
I kept it simple, and matted the card onto silver mirror card, which I also used for the letters and numbers, cut with Diamond Press Block Alpha dies. The bow is from Baker's twine.

Teenage Girl

This card was for my teenage niece. I used a topper and card sheet from Hunkydory's Perfect Princesses Luxury Topper collection.
There's not much else to say, except I used some mirror card to matt and layer, and for the wording and numbers which were cut with Crafter's Companion Diamond Press Block alphabet set. I finished it off as ever with a bow and sparkler.

February Scrapbooking

Afternoon!! I managed to find time today to do my February scrapbook page, following the instructions from the wonderful Jen Fisher aka The Scrapbook Lady.

But I have to admit, that I only sort of followed her instructions as I turned the layout on its side - and used different colours!!

Instead of the pink heart paper from the 12x12 Little Angel pad, I used the blue dots. And I then chose some of the red papers from the 5x5 Together Forever pad - instead of the pink. I felt it all went better with the photo of my OH and out dog.

The dies are all Diamond Press dies, and came as part of the February scrapbooking bundle.

Upright Stepper Card

I'm a bit later posting today, but better late than never!! So, this one is an upright stepper card - instructions on the Ulti Cards CD - using the Die'sire Bride and Groom Edge'able with some double sided printed A3 card from my stash.

I also used the matt mirror card from the gold Luxury Cardstock pack. The letters are Diamond Press Block Alpha, and the champagne flutes are from Sara Signature Together Forever Collection.

I want to ride my bicycle!!

Morning! Thought I would share another Diamond Press card. This one is using the "Bike" mini stamp and die set.

It's quite a simple card, using papers from the May 2016 download from the website. I stamped the bike in Versafine Smoky Gray - onto white paper, the green paper from the download, and also onto Shrink Plastic.

I layered it up to create the effect of the bike being on the grass amongst the trees, and created an embellishment from the shrink plastic.

Enjoy your day!!

Edge'ables Card

Morning! The One Day special on Hochanda yesterday was a great deal on the Large Fancy Edge'ables from Crafter's Companion! I love the size of these as it gives you a gorgeous edge to a large card!.

This one is a W Fold card using Jardin.

I used Centura Pearl Fresh White and Crafter's Companion Matt Black card, and embossed with Sugar and Spice Delicate Floral Embossing folder.
Th wording is using the Diamond Press Block Alpha, and I have decorated the inside with flowers using Die'sire Flowers for All Occasions. And I finished it with pearl "ribbon" and pearls!!

A day late .....

I shared a post this morning saying Fiona would be Hochanda today!! And then when I tuned in, I realised I was a day late!! Had to chuckle - story of my life!!

Anyway, here's another sample from the Diamond Press show from yesterday!!

I used the mini stamp and die set - Save the Date, to create a little card and matching magnet.

I used a couple of the little dies from the Diamond Press starter set too - the arrow for the card, and the little flower with the star cut out for the magnet. The calendar is computer generated, and I used papers from Crafter's Inspiration 11 - Printed Paper Packs - Timeless. A little bit of gold mirror card from the Luxury Card Pack, along with a few pearl and a little ribbon completed the look!!
I will try to be a bit more on time in the future!!

I want to ride my bicycle ......

Morning - a very quick post before I head out to the day job!!  Fiona Clayton will be on Hochanda later today with the fab little Diamond Press machine and some great stamp and die sets.

I made this frame using the "Enjoy the Ride" set. The papers are from the Crafter's Companion Website Monthly Downloads - May 2015.

I took the glass out of the frame so that I could make the picture 3D. I used Memento Gray Flannel to stamp onto Sheena White Stamping Card, and added colour to the flowers in the basket with Spectrum Noir Pen BT3.

Enjoy your day!

Day 95 - Diamond Press!!

An earlier post today as I am going out in a bit and may not have time later. Having another day today where I'm not feeling on top form. Spent part of this afternoon snoozing - not really what I wanted to do as I have lots to get sorted - but just didn't have the energy to fight it.

Anyway, I have a new toy - not yet played with it - but it's here now, ready for when I do have a minute.
