About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

It's a Dog's Life!!

Finally have found some time to blog!! Have been doing really busy things behind the scenes on Pinterest - and even found time to update my own boards!! For anyone that would like to follow me I am Papercraft By Carole - but you for loads more inspiration, follow the Crafter's Companion board too!

Anyway - way back at the end of April, we picked up our puppy Molly. And I did manage to fit in a bit of sewing before she arrived. I made a quilted bed liner using some gorgeous cotton from my local fabric shop, and white supersoft fleece.
The blanket is also supersoft fleece. Never worked with this before - my word is there a lot fluff when you cut it!!

Anyway, although this is all quite straightforward, it was the first time I made and used my own binding. Was quite a process as I made two of the bed liners and two blankets, so needed about 10m!! Am seriously considering investing in one of those bias binder maker things.

Molly seems to like it to chew on - and it's always good fun to empty everything out of the bed for me to put back in again!!
Back soon (hopefully)!!

A little colouring!!

Been a while since I did some colouring - and this was a little while ago for my niece's birthday!!
The image is from Just Inklined called High Tops, and I have coloured them with my Spectrum Noir pens: PP5, CR4, PP3, CR2, Blender, IG5, 3, 2, 1. I added a bit of sparkle with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen in Crystal Clear.
The A5 Easel card is made from white card, with coloured card from my stash - some of which is embossed with Sugar & Spice Elegant Orchid embossing folder. The circles are Spellbinders Circles, Scalloped Circles and Decorative Circles. The letters are Essentials Alphabet, the number are 1" Alphabet and the sentiement is Classiques Only Words.

And of course it's finished off with ribbon and pearls.

This is the Single Cupcake Takeaway Box with card from the Downstairs collection of the A3 card. For the decoration, I used the Star Insert die, along with circle dies.
I used the Picket Fence wrapper die and embellished the stars with buttons from my stash.

Downton Abbey Cupcake Box!

Did you catch the show earlier with Fiona and the Cupcake Box Templates? All those scrummy cupcakes that have appeared inside them look gorgeous!!

This is another of my samples - the Twin Cupcake Presentation Box using the fabulous Downton Abbey Above Stairs Collection.
I used the Heart Insert Die for embellishment, along with English Country Garden Rolled Flowers, Together Forever Graceful Swirls dies and Kimono Oriental Screen Embossing Folder.

The wrapper is cut with the Lacy Hearts Wrapper die, and I've used the Hearts Insert die for the little cupcake toppers.

I cut out areas as indicated on the template and added some acetate so you can see into the box. The flowers are Flowers for All Occasions 1, 3 and 4.
The wrapper is the Daisy Wrapper die, and I have also used the Flag Insert die.

Cupcake Heaven!

Evening I have a little sneak peek to share with you ahead of tomorrow's shows on Hochanda. The fabulous cupcake templates are back - and this time with the gorgeous Downton Abbey A3 Double Sided Centura Pearl card.
This one is made with the Four Cupcake Presentation Box template and card from the Downton Abbey Above Stairs collection.
To go with the box, I have used the Classique Butterfly Wrapper die, and the Prom Dress Insert die.
On the top of the box I have used the Classique Floral Flourish die, along with the Floral Delight Leafy Flourish dies. For the sides I used the English Country Garden Arch Edge die. The paper flowers, ribbon and pearls are all from my stash.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow for the shows.
