About Me

My photo
I'm a retired primary school teacher, who started paper crafting in 2008, when I had a fancy to make my own Christmas cards. Since then, I have tried all sorts of techniques and styles - and I kind of like them all. I have been lucky enough to be on blog teams and large design teams and to do a bit of freelance demonstrating - and I love the challenge of working with different products. My crafting style is very varied - from junk journaling and art journaling, bookbinding and journal making, to quilting and patchwork - and of course I still make cards. This variety keeps me interested - and my crafty stash growing!! I'm always seeking inspiration for new projects.

Congratulations!!

Congratulations indeed to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law on reaching their 25th wedding anniversary!! They went away to Paris to celebrate - and from the photos, it looks like they had a pretty good time!!

So, here's the card I made for them!!

I used the Kanban Silver Wedding topper from the recent Love and Marriage collection. I really love that it isn't just white and silver - the lilac is just perfect to go with it.

My base card is an 8x8 pearlescent base, and I chose three shades of purple Bazzill cardstock to layer up on top. I cut the edges of all three layers with the Spellbinders Classic Triple Scallop Edgeability. I then used an insert from the Petal Edgability set on the darkest and lightest mats,  and one from the Brackets set on the middle layer.

The white pearlescent mat was cut using the largest die from the Majestic Elements Exquisite Circles. After embossing with That Special Touch Swirls mask, I cut it in half to tuck under the sides of the topper.

The three purple mats were stuck together, and wrapped with white satin, and lilac organza ribbons. The white mats and the topper were then stuck on. I shaped the bottle and glasses, and used silicone glue to raise them up slightly.

I used more of the lilac organza combined with white organza to tie the bows. The waste from the decorative inserts was used to embellish the card, along with some lovely pearls. I finished it off with two of the sentiments from the topper sheet.

I was pretty pleased with the result! Hope they are too!!
